Abstract
The properties of a-Zr1-xFex alloys in the concentration range 20–36 at% depend on the method of preparation. From the magnetic study we deduce that the sputtered alloys show a more pronounced tendency to form iron clusters than the melt-spun ones. EXAFS experiments performed at both Fe and Zr absorption edges confirm this point, and show that first neighbour iron-iron pairs exist.
